The web module creation assignment is without a doubt my favorite assignment in all of my history courses. I think that is because: first, it allows you to choose and research a topic in which you have a particular interest; second, it allows you to be creative and design a particular web site to support that topic; third, the assignment is technology-based and I feel that it is important that students today use technology, particularly web technology, as much as possible in all of their work and that they learn how to author a web site and create web based materials; fourth, this particular assignment allows students to actively participate in the shaping and creating of this course for future students. So, this course is constantly undergoing revision as more and more students, and myself, add topical modules to the course. And I must say that I have had some really first-class, amazing work done by students on this assignment, and as you browse through some of the examples, you will see the work of previous students in the course. You do not need a lot of experience with web authoring to undertake this assignment. You can always use one of the existing modules as a kind of template with which you could then add different content material, and I am also available to help you somewhat with the design of the web site. You can select any possible topic for developing a web module as long as that topic falls within the confines of this course, and the confines of this course are very broad. About the only restriction is that you need to be able to locate sufficient web resources to make a meaningful presentation of a topic and a meaningful assignment for any student in the course. So I encourage all students to do the web page creation. You can be creative; you can write about something in which you are interested; you can use technology; and, probably most important from a student perspective, this assignment allows you to opt out of writing the four module essays.
