All of the written assignments in this course follow the particular style guidelines that I list on this page. One thing that you will learn in your college careers is that there are different types of writing for different situations, for example, one form for literature courses, another form for accounting, one form for history courses and one for creative writing. In this course I have very clear style format expectations, which I expect everyone to follow, and these are indicated on this page where you have a list of preferences, for example, no first-person pronouns, no passive tense, use of the past tense, which, by the way, is usually what trips up most students in this course. All of your writing should be written in the past tense since you are writing about the past. The other important thing to remember is that your introduction should have a clear statement of your thesis, and everything that you write in this course, whether it is a paragraph or a paper, should have an introduction that includes a thesis and an indication of the structure of your argumentation that will follow in the paper. Finally, make sure that you are absolutely clear about the specific question that has been asked of you in the assignment. This is very important so that you understand what is being asked of you and you answer that specific question.
