Rev. Charles R. Helper Addresses Ku Klux Klan

“Asserting there is a distinction between right and wrong, and that God is always on the side of the right, Rev. Charles R. Hepler, pastor of Trinity U. E. church, Second street, on Sunday evening, preached to several hundred robed members of the Ku Klux Klan and as many sympathizers of the order who crowded into the church.”
....
“Six hundred persons filled the church and an overflow crowd of another hundred stood outside. Many turned away because of the limited seating capacity. Rev. Hepler will repeat the same sermon next Sunday.”
“Preceding the church service the klansmen paraded up Second street to the church.”
“The clan removed their hoods during the services.”

Notice to the Public

“Any person found using the name of the Ku Klux Klan to antagonize people, or imitating a robed Klansman, for the purpose of blackmail, or burning a cross or for malicious mischief, will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
