Old-Time Pitcher Dies

"Christ Pfromm, retired constable who served this community for 20 years, died suddenly in bed, sometime early Saturday morning at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Emery Werkheiser; of 659 Franklin Ave., in Palmerton. He was 69 years, 4 months and 22 days of age."

Vocational Home Economics To Be Installed in S.H.S.

"County Supt. Marvin J. Wertman was present and introduced the question of installing a Vocational Home Economics Course in the high school. The board accepted same and made application to the Department of Public Instruction for same."

High School Band Had Exciting Trip to New York

"Last Saturday the S.H.S. band had an eventful trip to New York’s World Fair, where they rendered a fine concert on the Band Shell of the Court of Sports. The youthful musicians with Mr. Edgar Acker, their director, were presented with a beautiful Plaque for their excellent program, which may be seen among the many trophies in Smith Hall.
Mechanical trouble developed by the buses, delayed the musicians about 5 hours-giving them many thrills and excitement."

Slatington Skeet Club to build a Club House

"Members of the Slatington Skeet Assn., are requested to report to LeRoy Yenser, W. Franklin St., in order to determine how many volunteers can be had to raze a new building.
Officials of the club have purchased a building, and it is planned to raze it and then rebuild a club house on the skeet grounds north of town."

Main Street Decorations Have Been Illuminated

"The Yule decorations in the town have been illuminated and present a pretty sight, with spruce adorning the light standards amid clusters of vari-colored lights. The criss-cross streamers of lights centered with big illuminated stars at the intersections also add to the beauty of the display."
